Joplin, Janis (1943-1970)

A Californian singer active in the hippy movement. She was mainly inspired by the blues, blues rock, acid rock and folk music. In 1969 she took part in the Woodstock festival before dying following a heroin overdose in 1970. She was only twenty-seven years old.
